The Work of Byron Katie

The Work is the most powerful thing I know to open the heart and mind.
We all have the same stressful thoughts. They might appear in different situations or contexts or only with certain people, but they are all the same.
Byron Katie often says "There are no new stressful thoughts." We have been telling ourselves and others the same old stories about who we are and who we think other are forever. We often unknowingly go around upset thinking things should be different. People should be better, they stop doing whatever it is that is bothering us and take up all the things that we think would make us and them more happy and functional.
Each time we do The Work, a shift happens. Our minds open in extraordinary ways and we may see things we were once blind to. It's a powerful mind practice and most people find great freedom and relief from chronic or acute stress in a single session. The more we do The Work, the more it becomes a living practice. The questions start to arise within a stressful situation and we shift sooner. The cycle is interrupted and our bodies relax. We retrain our nervous system to be at ease. Doing The Work with others can be very powerful, in a group there is a synergistic effect and we get the benefit of others minds working out the same stressful thought. In this workshop, we will notice and identify common stressful thoughts. Decide as a group which of these common upsetting beliefs we will do The Work on. Briefly go over the four questions and turn arounds. Fill out a JYN worksheet together, then practice a group facilitation on our chosen stressful thought. I'll will also share a few of my favorite free resources and tips for doing The Work. Before ending the call, will pair up with someone from the group to meet and practice outside of the workshop.
